Hey Guys,

So I have pretty much only played steel since release, heres a build guide on what I think is the best way to play Steel.

OVERVIEW

As a whole this build will focus on pure defense like Health, Armor, and CDR.

**Pros**

1. 5-6k HP end game with plenty of Energy Armor/Armor.

2. Ult on less than 1 Min CD.

3. Massive Crowd Control.

4. You can dive into a 5 man team and survive

**Cons**

1. Little to no damage

2. Slow midgame unless you are roaming and getting involved in teamfights/ganks

MINDSET

1. You are a linebacker, you are not responsible for soaking up damage, you are responsible for getting behind the line and sacking the shit out of the QB aka the Main Threat to your team. Basically any ADC or whoever the "Problem" has been. With this build you will naturally take damage, considering the HP and Armor you will have it takes about 20 seconds of the entire team focusing you to actually die. Half the time when you focus an ADC, the rest of their team will focus you, thus giving your team free range to rain Hellfire on the enemy. In an ideal world you can knock your target towards your team and secure the kill easily.

2. Positioning is key. Use the Jungle to your advantage, 7/10 teamfights will take place within feet of a flank from the jungle, use it to your advantage. Always put the enemy between you and your team.

3. If shit goes south, use your Charge/Ult as an easy way out. With the CDR we use in this build its up almost constantly.

4. Lastly, and I cant stress this enough, ALWAYS place yourself between the enemy and your ADC/Best Player if you are the ones being attacked. You can use your Shield Block, Force Shield, or even your charge to disengage the enemy from your squishy team mates.

5. For the first 5-6 mins you will stay in lane, after that you need to roam to wherever the action is. You NEED to get involved in teamfights as much as possible.

ABILITIES

Your bread and butter for this defensive build believe it or not is Charge. The damage increase from leveling it up is good, but you want to lower the CD as much as possible.

Upgrade Priority: Charge> Force Shield> Shield Block and leveling up your Ult whenever possible (obviously)

COMBOS

1. Ult your target, (Re-position), Charge your target towards the team, the throw up a Force Shield to slow said Target and protect your team at the same time.

2. Throw a Force Shield infront of your target then Charge them into it.

3. Thats pretty much it, but keep in mind every ability is offensive and defensive...even your ult.

DECK

I selected some of the more common cards so people wont have much of an issue building this deck.

Equipment:

Health and Mana Pots + Ward

1 x Tempered Plate (Armor/HP)

1 x Tuned Barrier (Energy Armor/HP)

1 x Pendulum of the Lords (Mana/HP/CDR)

1 x Amulet of the Veteran (AD/HP)

1 x Wings of Valkyrie (If you are lucky, Movement speed is key for engage/disengage)

--------------------------------------

Upgrades are pretty straight forward.

Focus on adding the highest HP>Armor>Energy Armor>CDR cards to your deck first. Once you run out of those, trickle down to the lower costing ones till your deck is full.

EARLY GAME

Start off with Pots and Ward. Honestly you can solo lane against 2 ranged, but ideally you want to be paired up with anyone. Reason for this is because its nice to have help, but more importantly its easy for you to roam. Drop a ward in the jungle near your lane to help with ganks. Do NOT leave lane til you have at least 3 Card Points.

On your first back get either Tuned Barrier if your enemy is mostly Energy or get Tempered Plate if its Physical. Get NOTHING ELSE. If you have 6 CP when you go back, get the highest HP upgrade you can and put in on the equipment you just got. Always finish the piece of equipment you got before getting another. The upgrade path should follow 1 HP then one Armor (Or Energy Armor) and then HP or another Armor depending on how you feel.

After you spent your CP, check the Map out to see where the fights are, and start to roam. Once again, USE THE FUCKING JUNGLE. If you run straight at the enemy from your lane, you wont get shit done. Period. No exceptions. Ever.

MID GAME

So by now you have your first equipment maxed, its about 15 mins in, and teamfights are happening more often. Here where you need to get some HP. Once you have enough CP go get Amulet of the Veteran. Max it out Asap. In a perfect world, maxing that out will net your 300HP from equipment and and 900-1200 from upgrades. From here on out till late game, follow the Mindset I posted above. When you get enough CP and things are quiet, back to base and pick up Pendulum of the Lords and MAX it with the highest CDR Upgrades you have.

LATE GAME

Late game is the same as Mid Game, but by now you have 4500-5500HP, a shitload of CDR, and enough armor to make an Abrams Tank look  like a paperweight. At this point in the game, you really cant afford to die. A 40 Second Respawn will usually result in your team losing 1-3 towers, OP Buff, etc.
