Gideon is a mage with powerful abilities and a deadly ultimate. When you are playing Gideon, your impact during early game depends on the amount of unlocked abilities. Level 5 (unlocking Black Hole) is the key. Font of Experience will get you there faster.
Keep Font of Experience as long as you want. Keep upgrading Intellect Attribute. Main idea here is to combine cards with stats in order to maximize your stats summary: Thaumaturge, Invader Mage, Soldier of Fortune, Mana-Flow Acolyte
Once Thaumaturge is equipped try not to discard it in order to keep your stacks
Examples of possible combinations
Time of power spike. Keep upgrading Intellect and add Vitality on demand. Try to balance it since every investment to something except Intellect will delay your transition to final deck.
