Match-Making is broken(?)

Devs feedback regarding current match-making issues.

So frankly Pysko, there's no spin. There are hundreds of thousands of matches each week. Our data has indicated that matches and match fairness are largely working as intended, however it's not perfect and we've acknowledged that. We're also working to improve the state of matchmaking on a day-to-day basis.

Matchmaking itself is a tough one to crack, as a player that plays a lot of different competitive titles, I think it can go without saying that people generally have a wide array of skills despite the Rank provided by a game. We're human beings after all, which means that on any given day you can play the absolute best or worst games and it can influence the outcome of a match...regardless of rank.

The new player pool is currently in affect and we're monitoring data, but attempting to use third-party websites as a source of information can be misleading for you and for others. As an example, in some cases PS4 accounts aren't properly tracked on those sites, or linked accounts after a player has created an Epic ID misses data. Using third-party services as your primary tool of information shouldn't be a credible source for in-game match indicators. It's not to say that every time it's the case, but I just want to be clear about trying to point out third party sites.

From a statistical analysis standpoint, on the forums, we receive anywhere from approximately 3% - .002% of game feedback relative to the total population playing the game on a given day. We regularly send out additional surveys to quantify the game and matchmaking experience to see if the changes we've made are having a positive impact based on the data we receive.

Hope that provides some clarity. And again, we understand geting paired with players that don't meet your expectations is frustrating. We'll continue to try and make sure our matchmaking system tries to put the absolute best players it can into your game at the time that you're searching for a match. Some of those players may already be in a game, could be building decks, opening packs, chatting with friends, or the MMR band has expanded and it pulls in players from the higher or lower MMR ranges because you (or they) have been searching longer than desired.

We'll get there, but rest assured our data indicates that match pools based on MMR is performing well.

Edit: I also want to add that our current design thinking around Ranked will have much stricter rules for play which will likely add more relevance around player expectation and performance in matches.

MMR official and unofficial

Currently official MMR that is used for match-making is private. Any ELO rating website (fury, agora, etc.) is just some speculative representation and should not be taken seriously.

[MMR] It's not something we want the majority of the community to focus on during Early Access. It will be something that is much more emphasized and players can strive to improve when we introduced Ranked Play!

Right now it's being utilized to produce data to improve our matchmaking algorithms.

Surrender and "Kill the Core"

If the enemy team Surrenders, the Core still explodes and counts.

Card Crafting ETA?

We've started concept work, but nope nothing concrete to share. When we have more information we'll make sure to let you all know.

I don't have an ETA to share, but it's pretty high on our list.

Lore ETA?

No ETA that we can provide. Lore is not a high priority for us. We're much more focused on gameplay at the moment.

Misc stuff

Not much this time.
