paragon-game.com Updates #1

Hey Paragon community, George here.

Today it’s slightly more than a week since NDA was lifted and paragon-game.com was announced and started receiving community contribution. I wanted to share with you some updates, future plans and get your constructive feedback.

For the past week we got more than 50 text and video guides. 15 of them are pretty detailed Hero Guides and 4 great general gameplay overviews for the beginners (in text and video format). So at first, thank you all the guides creators for your effort putting all this awesome stuff together and keeping track of the discussions inspired by your Guides.

Heroes tips (e.g. Kallari) and counters section has also received a pack of good suggestions and tricks to note while playing certain hero against or with another one. However still there is a lot of empty spaces to fill and a lot of place for good tips would you choose to contribute.

There also were a lot of subtle changes here and there like:

  • Unique views counter for each guide.
  • Color highlight for abilities build to ensure guide creators are in sync with what abilities upgrades can actually happen in game at each level.
  • All the info about cards was added so all of them can now be filtered and explored.

We are planning to keep developing the paragon-game.com website adding more functionality for the Paragon community. Therefore we are willing to know what you’d like to see there so welcome to comments.

E.g. we are looking for an idea to make a quick tool for searching teammates to group up with with filtering by preferable Heroes and time for play.

You can also help by adding your guides (for a specific Hero or a general gameplay) or just Deck builds with some comments.

The most demanded Heroes are Dekker, Gadget, Murdock, Rampage and TwinBlast.

Again, general gameplay guides are welcome as well especially if they cover game aspects that aren’t very easy to grasp for a newcomer.

Thanks to Epic’s community support we have some access codes and founder’s packs to give away for the best contributors including those who already are doing awesome stuff there.

And finally I want to highlight some of the guide makers contributed so far and encourage you to go ahead and visit their guides. See it right below:

  1. Callum - for the Muriel Guide. It is being constantly updated and comments are being responded promptly.
  2. Drage - with his The Art of Grux... ing... same thing there and a good discussion in comments.
  3. Kizr - for The Unstoppable Force! Steel's Guide with pictures meta analysis
  4. mokanshu - with an essential All-In-One Beginners Guide
  5. Danxor95 - and his text and video guide for the most badass Mage ever
  6. Stryken and his Ultimate Ganker with videos and good discussion in comments.
  7. PsYcHo962 - and A Beginner's Guide to Deck Building

I wish I could name all the contributor here. I'm looking forward for Colt's Steel guide completion as well as for Colo629's Kallari Master Chef one

GLHF and welcome to the comments.

Congrats George! Glad to see this site getting the attention it deserves, when I first saw it I envisioned it being to Paragon what Hearthpwn.com is to Hearthstone. The place to go for Paragon decks, guides and news.
I do have a few suggestions that would make this site even more awesome!

  • Adding a reply feature to the comments. It doesn't need to be as in depth as Reddit, showing replies to replies to replies, but a youtube style reply system would be very appreciated. As this site gets more popular and authors come back to their guides to find 10+ new comments, trying to reply to specific questions in the current format would get a bit messy. Having authors be able to reply to comments would allow them to answer questions a lot easier, and make it easier for other viewers to see answers to questions others have posted that they want to know as well.
  • More emphasis on the author of guides. Showing at the top of the guide, where the author's name is, how many guides they've written, their total rating score etc. So readers can get an idea of whether the guide they're reading is credible based on the rating of previous guides by the same author. Also, the ability to see other guides written by the same author (I can't seem to find a way to do that currently) would be nice, if the readers like a particular author's style or think them credible enough to want to read every contribution that author as made.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Brilliant work on the site so far George, let's hope this site, and Paragon itself, continue to grow exponentially!

@PsYcHo962, good ideas.

As for the bullet #1 - we were discussing this approach internally and decided to follow a forum-like approach without comments nesting. Main ideas here were to follow approach of similar websites and to make it clear what are the new comments waiting for your attention. Tracking them down in nested mode is more difficult than in flat. Though as you pointed it will bring you to multiple replies in a comment. Let's monitor this for a while and see if it cause a big trouble.

As for the bullet #2 - Yep that's is in nearest plans. There will be a section in a user profile to list all the created guides. And there will be statistics on each guide page. You are right it's good to see who is the guide creator and how much credibility he or she has.

Feel free to share other ideas if you come up with more of them.
